It’s really cool to hear such a different approach to dealing with the crisis. A lot of us have been making ourselves crazy about it — thanks for the much needed reminder to breathe and reflect. I’m going to save your message to my iPod so I can listen to it on the walk to work (and the walk everywhere else for that matter!)

Ahh, that was just the thing. a mini meditation–it doesnt take long to get into a different frame of mind, does it? The other day on the neighborhood shuttle, neighbor Steve & I weer riding in the back row, & he was grumbling about the tree poachers. A great tune came on the radio, and I dashed out of my seat & started dancing at him in the aisle. Almost without thinking, he grooved too, his complaints fell away, and a minute later the song was over. I sat back down. “Wow, a little dancing,” he marvelled. “Don’t you feel better?” I said. “Yeah,” he said, and the rest of the trip was much better, even after we got squashed by standing room only passengers.

The thing is, I find myself waiting a lot these days. Things just take longer without oil. Oil was like liquid speed, liquid now now now. But these days everything is slower. And I don’t mind. Because I do things like this breathing exercise. And I just look at things - like I’ve never seen them before. May sound crazy, but it’s intensely pleasurable.
